ok,,, perhaps I have slacked on my posts a bit? Well, ok I have but there hasn’t been much to report. I was stuck from more or less last Sept. till recently at around 250+ and for whatever unknown reason I am now at 242, go figure. I have also had the worst butt problems of my life and it is still going on, though getting a bit better thanks to left over pain killers from the DS surgery. I dread the idea of the available treatments for said problem and so have been taking lots of hot baths (at least I fit well in the tub now) as well as the prep H cream and tylenol.
I saw Dr Cirangle again and went over my 1 year blood labs. Yikes it was like 14 viles of blood and I am bad about needles. But the results were good with the exception that my good cholesterol was low. My B vits were high and all is well so far. I still need to post some pics. Truth to tell I feel like the human Shar Pei (the wrinkle dog) as I have so much hanging skin, so I am actually considering plastics, I never thought I would but it is pretty crazy. Everyone tells me I look great, but I have seen me naked and lucky for them they haven’t. To sum up I am still very glad I did the DS and al in all it is a great thing

301 lbs
I got back from a trip to Longmont, Colorado to visit friends yesterday. I flew in coach for the first time in quite a few years. I have either not gone on trips, taken the car, or (horrors) flown 1st class. It went well. I didn’t need a seat belt extension and I didn’t get a dirty eye rolling look when the person that was coming to sit next to me saw me. I could even put the tray table down (just). So that was the good part. The bad part was that airline seats are still amazingly uncomfortable and I now have the lower regions problems back in spades. Very difficult to sit at all.
I also saw Dr Cirangle last week for the 4 month … well it wasn’t an exam per se. He just asked how it was going, I got weighed and that was about it. I don’t suppose there is much for him to do as he is a surgeon and not a regular Dr. I will have another check with my BP Dr in early June.

308.5 today makes it official that I have crossed the first century mark. WOO HOO! I feel quite well and my health seems to improve day by day. The priviously mentioned lower regions problems have mostly gone away (also woo hoo). I still need to get on a regular exercise program. I am getting enough protein now which is good.

313.6lbs
Yikes…it’s been a while since I posted and I still haven’t done the pics yet, DOH. I am feeling quite well now. My butt is mostly ok (if you must know). And my stamina is better though I still sleep a long night, maybe 9:30 to 7 give or take. My wounds are getting smaller and so am I. I had several weeks of plateau which was a bit scary, but I seem to be going down again, even if slowly. I still have amazing gurgles in the belly and some stinky gas when I eat carbs. I solved the protein drink problem by using soy milk and blending it in the blender with ice, waaaay better. Stupid to have not done that from the git go. In early May I am off on my first post-op trip to visit friends in Colorado. I will be flying coach and hope to fit the seat a bit better than my last flight in coach. I expect I will still need a seat belt extension which is quite embarasing, but I suppose I won’t need one pretty soon. All in all the DS is a winner so far.

I went to see my BP Dr yesterday and he was happy with my BP. I am more or less in the 122/72 range give or take and that is good. I started using Metamucel waffers to help with my butt problems and it has though the Prep H is still needed. My weight this AM was 322, amazing.
I’ll have to take some new pics to post. All in all things are going well. I still need more protein and calcium. I guess I will have to go with 2 Profects a day.

I’m not having perfect luck being off the 2 bp meds. My numbers tend to be something like 137/70, so the low number is good but the top number is too high, so I may have to go up a pill. I’m also still not getting enough protein. I woke up this morning and thought…oh crap I have to eat again today…ack. The last few years I have had a very light breakfast (light like a fat bomb scone) and then nothing till lunch. Now I have to nibble nibble all day as best I can. At my last support group meeting I was told it takes four months to get feeling normal so I have a way to go and maybe things will improve with getting all the protein.
On the good side I am at 329 today which is amazing. My band (Penguin Jazz Quartet) played up in Hayward on Saturday and we had a really nice night, very responsive crowd and pretty fair $$. That was really great!
Onward and downward…

Well… my rapid loss has slowed, I am 337.4 today. I also have an appt with my pcp this afternoon and I hope to get some reduction in my bp drugs.
I think perhaps my loss has slowed because I have been using less shakes and more food with carbs. Needless to say my capacity is still quite small but I have been eating the Stallone pudding (with whip cream) as well as assorted meats, turkey bacon, protein oatmeal etc. Or perhaps this is just the natural way. Anyway, I am still going down and that’s the right direction.
OK…
Just got back from Dr and he took me off 2 out of 4 meds HOORAY!!!!!
Now I will have to keep a bp journal just to be sure. It is no wonder I have been run down, my bp was 100/68
